The case against Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan centers on one of the country's most fraught issues, immigration.

The man whose court case set off the chain of events leading to Dugan's trial, Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, was a domestic battery suspect assigned to Dugan's courtroom in April. Prosecutors say the judge helped shield the out-of-custody defendant from immigration agents by having him exit through a side hallway meant for jurors.
