Gov. Andy Beshear says the death toll is expected to rise as more information comes in following storms that struck Kentucky.

At least 31 million people are at risk for severe storms from central Texas to Iowa on Monday, with hazards including large hail, damaging winds and several possibly strong tornadoes.

Several parts of the state were struck by the tornado early Saturday morning, leaving significant damage across the area.

The latest victim died on a houseboat in Russell County. She was running a generator after power was knocked out during the storms, and she died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Devastating tornadoes reportedly took the life of a Laurel County fire major who worked overnight trying to help protect the community.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced the fast lanes on I-75 will be closed for debris cleanup after a tornado swept through the state.

In Kentucky, some 14 people were killed by severe weather, and the death toll is likely to rise, according to Gov. Andy Beshear. Local authorities in Laurel County, in the state's southeast, said nine people were killed after a tornado touched down.
