Texas’ Republican attorney general and a GOP Illinois state senator filed a petition in more conservative Adams County rather than where Texas lawmakers are located in suburban Chicago.

Dozens of Texas Democrats have left the state for Illinois and New York to thwart a quorum needed to vote on new congressional maps that would give the GOP five more seats and consolidate President Donald Trump's power.

The attorney general is calling on the “full faith and credit” clause of the Constitution, which says states should typically honor each other’s judicial proceedings.
