Construction and Operation

1. Site Selection: Choose a shaded, level area near the kitchen or garden.
2. Slurry Preparation: Chop or shred waste and mix with water in a 1:1 ratio.
3. Digester Setup: Seal all inlets, outlets, and joints to maintain anaerobic conditions.
4. Start-Up: Add slurry and allow 7–15 days for methanogenic bacteria to activate; initial gas production may be low.

5. Temperature and pH: Maintain 30–40°C and pH 6.5–8.0; insulate in colder climates.
6. Maintenance: Stir slurry every few days, keep moisture balanced, and use biogas-safe tubing with filters to remove hydrogen sulfide and moisture.
